1. Investigate
Investigation Task Overview:
You will begin by completing an online word search by following the link below. This word search will include essential terms and identifiable traits related to cyberbullying.
Once everyone has finished the word search and identified all the words, you will be divided into five groups. Four groups will consist of five students, and one group will have six students. In your groups, you will need to research the definitions of all the words you have found and submit these to our shared Google doc.
Each group will then research Cyberbullying using the defined terms and the websites provided. We will compile your findings into a shared class Padlet. This will allow everyone to access and reflect on the information you've gathered.
Wordsearch
In this word search, you will find words related to cyberbullying and online behaviour. These words will help you understand key terms and concepts that are important in this unit. As you find each word, reflect on how these actions can affect people and how we can work together to make the internet safer.

After completing the word search, get into groups (four groups of five and one group of six). Once in your groups, number each student one through to five; please look at the definitions for your section written below. Just so you know, the six-person group should have two people as student 5. Once the definitions have been completed, please put your information into your group table in the Google Doc link pasted here:

Research Task
In your groups, please use the websites listed below to learn about cyberbullying and its impacts. The image on the right is there to inspire you and give you a visual representation of what cyberbullying is. Along with this, here are some questions you can use to guide your research: What is cyberbullying? How can you stop cyberbullying? How does cyberbullying affect people? Can you find any statistics to support your research? Are there any interesting facts? Did you find any images that illustrate cyberbullying and the harm it can cause? I discovered that "60% of young people have witnessed online bullying" (DoSomething, 2024). That means 6 out of 10 people have witnessed online bullying. As you saw in the introduction video, cyberbullying can be very harmful to individuals, and it is something you need to be aware of as you can be exposed to it.
Your Task: Individually research cyberbullying using the resources and questions provided for assistance. After individual research has been conducted, discuss your findings with your group. Please note that in the next task, your group will have to share their research with the rest of the class on our class Padlet.
Tip: If you get stuck, use the questions above to help with your research. Furthermore, you can use the image on the right to inspire you and even click on it for further information about ways to deal with cyberbullying. I recommend using the words you found in the word search and defined to guide your research.

Padlet Activity
Using your group's research from the research task above, please insert a minimum of ten pieces of information per group into the class Padlet with references (images are counted as one submission). This allows the rest of the class to access your research. After adding your research, please read what the other groups have found to solidify and build on your knowledge about cyberbullying. If you find any information interesting, please like the post.
