2. Communicate

Great job on your research into cyber bullying! You've worked hard to gather valuable information on this important topic and share it on our class Padlet. Now, we will build on that knowledge with our next task: completing a KWL chart.

KWL Activity

What is a KWL Chart?

A KWL chart is a graphic organiser that helps us reflect on what we know, what we want to know, and what we have learned. Here's how it works:

  1. K - What I Know: Take a moment to think about everything you've learned so far about cyberbullying. Write down in the KWL PADLET (Here: https://padlet.com/KayleighandLauren/kwl-chart-tq4x7q7dc0w3elx1) at least three things you already know based on your research and our discussions. This could include definitions, examples, or statistics.

  2. W - What I Want to Know: Next, consider what you still want to learn about cyberbullying. Write down at least three questions or topics you're curious about inside the W column of the KWL padlet. This will guide your future research and help us focus our learning.

  3. L—What I Learned: At the end of our unit, we will return to this chart and fill in what we've learned. This will allow you to see how your understanding has grown!

Instructions: I will provide a link to the KWL chart template. Please click the link:  https://padlet.com/KayleighandLauren/kwl-chart-tq4x7q7dc0w3elx1 or click on the image to the left to access the Padlet.

    1. 1. Access the KWL Chart: Please click the above link or the image on the left to access the Padlet.

    2. Complete the K and W Sections: Write your responses in the appropriate sections. Be clear and concise!

    3. Collaborate and Discuss: Feel free to discuss your ideas with your classmates if you need help or inspiration. Collaboration is key!: I will provide a link to the KWL chart template. Please click here: https://padlet.com/KayleighandLauren/kwl-chart-tq4x7q7dc0w3elx1 to access the document.

Interview Questions

Now that you've completed your KWL chart, it's time to move on to our next task: creating interview questions! This is an exciting opportunity for you to engage with real experiences related to cyberbullying.

In your assigned groups, you will work together to come up with five questions that you can use to interview three different perspectives:

  1. A victim of cyberbullying: Understanding their personal experience.
  2. A parent of a victim: Gaining insight into the impact on families.
  3. Our school principal: Learning about policies and prevention strategies.

Instructions:

  1. Group Collaboration: Discuss as a group what you've learned from your research and what you're curious about. Think about what questions will help you gather meaningful information from each perspective.

  2. Drafting Questions: Aim for a total of five questions that can apply across all three interviews. Make sure your questions are respectful, open-ended, and encourage detailed responses. Here are some examples to inspire you:

    • "Can you describe how you first learned about the cyberbullying?"
    • "What impact has cyberbullying had on your daily life or your family?"
    • "What steps do you think schools should take to prevent cyberbullying?"
  3. Finalising Your Questions: Once you've drafted your questions, ensure they reflect your group's knowledge and curiosity. Each member should contribute ideas, and you can refine the questions together.

  4. Submit Your Questions: Once your group has agreed on the final set of five questions, you must submit them to my email Teacher@outlook.edu.au as I will collect them for use in the interviews. Please have your finalised questions ready by week 5.

Purpose of This Task:

This task will help you gain deeper insights into the realities of cyberbullying. The questions you develop will guide our interviews, allowing us to learn from real experiences and apply our knowledge meaningfully.

Interview

I'm excited to announce our next step: conducting Zoom interviews with three key perspectives on cyberbullying! This is your chance to put your questions into action and gain valuable insights.

Interview Details

In Week 6, we will hold Zoom calls with:

  1. A victim of cyberbullying
  2. A parent of a victim
  3. Our school principal

Each interview will last about 10-15 minutes. During this time, your group will take turns asking the five questions you developed.

Instructions:

  1. Preparation: Before the interviews, review your group's questions to ensure everyone is familiar with them. Decide who will ask which questions, and consider any follow-up questions based on their responses.

  2. Interviewing: During each call, one group at a time will ask their questions. Make sure to listen actively and take notes on the responses.

  3. Post-Interview Discussion: After all the calls are finished, we will gather as a class to discuss any new information you gained. This is a great opportunity to reflect on what you learned and how it relates to your research.

  4. Updating the Padlet: Following our discussion, we will add any new insights to our class KWL Padlet to the Learnt section, enriching our shared knowledge on cyberbullying. Please follow the link below to the KWL Padlet.

Reflection Task (Exit Slips)

In the last lesson, you had the opportunity to interview three important individuals: a victim of cyberbullying, a parent of a victim, and our school principal. Each of these perspectives helps us understand the impact of cyberbullying, how it affects different people, and the role of schools and families in addressing it.

Now, it's time to reflect on what you've learned during the interviews. Your reflection will help you think about how these experiences can influence your thoughts and actions on cyberbullying.

Task: Individual Reflection

In this task, you will write a short reflection on your experience interviewing the three individuals. Please click on the button down below and complete the questions provided. Make sure to take your time and thoughtfully complete each question. This reflection task will allow me to understand your understanding of cyberbullying. Once finished, make sure to click the orange submit button in the top right-hand corner.

             Remember:

  • Answer each question clearly and thoroughly.
  • Focus on your thoughts and feelings. There are no wrong answers.
  • Write in full sentences, and provide examples from the interviews if possible.
  • Take this opportunity to think about how we can all contribute to a safer and more respectful online environment!

Congradulations!
